n. ~ 1. A device used to print, impress, perforate or emboss a design or letters on an item, especially paper. - 2. A mark made by such a device. - 3. A small piece of printed paper attached to a letter or container to indicate the payment of duties, taxes, or postage.

Notes: 

Stamps1 are usually small and intended for hand use. The letters or design are typically raised. Stamps are commonly inked or used to transfer a pigment or metal from foil. A blind stamp uses no such ink or pigment, and leaves only an impression of the design.
