Sabattier effect

n. ~ Photography · A partial reversal of tones in a photograph due to exposure to light during development, resulting in an image with a combination of normal and reversed polarity.

Notes: 

The effect, described by French scientist Armand Sabattier in 1862, has an appearance similar to solarization. Photographers sometimes use it intentionally for aesthetic value.
