Distinguish From:

n. ~ 1. Description · A portion of a larger work established by the author, publisher, or manufacturer that is complete in itself. - 2. Archives · A division within the hierarchy of a collection. - 3. Music · A piece written for one voice or instrument in a musical composition.

Notes:

For monographic works, a part1 is usually synonymous with volume. However, it may refer to a bibliographic unit intended to be bound, with other parts, into a volume. A part is distinguished from a fascicle, the latter being a temporary division that is not necessarily congruent with an intellectual division. - Part2 can refer to a series within a record group or collection, a folder within a series, or an item within a folder.
