nonrecords

Relationships

n. ~ 1. Materials not considered to fall within the definition of an official record. - 2. Copies, duplicates, or publications that are kept for purposes of personal reference or convenience. - 3. Materials that do not appear on a records retention schedule and that may be destroyed without authorization.

Notes:

Used primarily in records management to indicate materials that may be destroyed without authorization. - Nonrecord3 presumes that all records are scheduled, although in practice schedules may be out-of-date and fail to describe all records held by an organization. As such, the mere fact that materials are not on a schedule is not dispositive of their being a nonrecord.
