endorsement

(also indorsement), n. ~ 1. A signature on the back of a document, especially a check or other negotiable instrument. - 2. The signature itself. - 3. Official or personal approval or recommendation.

Notes: 

An endorsement may include additional notes, such as a qualification that limits the liability to subsequent parties if the instrument is invalid or a restriction that places limits on the use of the instrument.
