Notes

An edition1 may be released over time in several printings. The copies in an edition may show some variation between printings. In early printing, production and proofreading processes sometimes overlapped. As errors were found, the type was corrected; however, earlier impressions that included the error may have already been used.Edition2 is roughly synonymous with 'version'; for example, the first edition of a book, or the 6:30 p.m. edition of a broadcast news program. In this sense, different editions may have different content or physical characteristics.
