(also disaster mitigation planning), n. ~ Policies, procedures, and information that direct the appropriate actions to recover from and mitigate the impact of an unexpected interruption of operations, whether natural or man-made.

Notes: 

Disaster plans typically include a variety of directions for different scenarios. Disaster planning includes anticipatory activities done to mitigate the impact of disaster, such as maintaining lists of employee home phone numbers, names and phone numbers of recovery services, and off-site storage of vital records and data backups. Disaster planning also includes information about what to do should a disaster actually take place, such as establishing an order of staff responsible for coordinating activities, prioritizing materials for treatment, and noting when staff should be contacted.
