n. ~ A work assembled from a variety of material taken from various sources to create a new work; an anthology.


A compilation may also include new material, especially material that serves as an introduction, that provides a bridge between or commentary on the material from other sources, or that closes the work. Often used to describe motion pictures and sound recordings.

(USC) Copyright · A work formed by the collection and assembling of preexisting materials or of data that are selected, coordinated, or arranged in such a way that the resulting work as a whole constitutes an original work of authorship. The term 'compilation' includes collective works.
