Materials used may include photographs, paper, printed materials, and fabric. A work that has sufficient depth to be considered three-dimensional is described as an assemblage. If the materials form a unified image, the work is described as a montage. A photograph that combines images from many negatives onto a single sheet of paper is called a photomontage. An image composed of small, regular pieces of glass, tile, or other durable material is called a mosaic.
