An archivist for over 35 years, Michele Pacifico has specialized in archival facilities since 1987. An archival consultant since 2000, Michele assists clients in all aspects of collections policy and planning, including proposals, assessments, collections surveys, feasibility studies, programming, design, construction, and post occupancy reviews for archives, records centers, museums, and special collections.

She has managed the largest archival facility design and construction project in the world, NARA's Archives II, and assisted in developing NARA's facility standards. Her current projects include the programming, design, and construction of Library Archives Canada's new net-zero carbon Preservation and Access facility, an archival facility for the Town of Marblehead, a cultural repository for Guam's museum and archival collections, and a new net-zero archival facility for the County of San Diego.

As co-chair of the Society of American Archivists' Technical Subcommittee on Archival Facility Guidelines, Michele continues to research and develop the most current standards and guidelines for archival facilities.  She was co-editor and author for the 2009 SAA approved standard for US archival facilities: Archival and Special Collection Facilities: Guidelines for Archivists, Librarians, Architects, and Engineers. She is currently coordinating the development of a joint US-Canadian facility standard to be issued in 2020, and is a Executive Member of the International Council of Archives (ICA) Expert Group on Archive Buildings and Environments.  Michele recently completed an international bibliography on archives facilities for the ICA.
