The University of Michigan Student Chapter of the Society of American Archivists had another busy year made up of tours, professional development sessions, and special speakers. The chapter continued to provide opportunities for students to get to know their colleagues by hosting social events such as our weekly happy hour, a night of bowling, and welcome back potluck.

The UM student chapter raised money to fund activities by selling “Michigan Archives” t-shirts and sweatshirts and hosting a bake sale. Particularly successful was our shirt sale at SAA’s annual conference in Boston. We set up a table at the UM reception and quickly sold out.

We also updated our website (http://www.si.umich.edu/SAA) and created a tool for rating UM courses and professors, which has been very popular with the entire student body. Further, the website was used to post all of our events throughout the year and serves as an archive of past events to guide future officers.

The chapter is a recognized University of Michigan student group and has a University bank account.
