Richard Strassberg
Richard Strassberg was the Associate Director of the Martin P. Catherwood Library at Cornell University and director of its special collections unit, the Kheel Center for Labor-Management Documentation and Archives. Mr. Strassberg has been at Cornell in various capacities since 1968 and currently chairs its Security Taskforce and its Safety and Security Committee.
Mr. Strassberg holds graduate degrees in history and archival administration and is a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists. He is an archival consultant specializing in security and records management, a frequent speaker at professional conferences, and developed the SAA Security Workshop (with Mimi Bowling) in 1990 and, with Gregor Trinkaus-Randall, founded the SAA Security Roundtable in 1996. His most recent publication is the chapter on library and archival security in Paul N. Banks and Roberta Pilette, eds. Preservation: Issues and Planning, Chicago and London, American Library Association, 2000. He is a 1992 Recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship of the State University of New York.
