Jennifer Meehan

Jennifer Meehan is Head of Processing in the Manuscript Unit of the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University. In this position, she manages the Manuscript Unit’s offsite processing facility and is currently directing a three-year project to eliminate the backlog. Prior to this, she held the position of Accessioning Archivist, and was responsible for overseeing the physical processing, arrangement, and description of all new archival and manuscript accessions, and developing and implementing local baseline standards for processing.

Jennifer has given presentations on baseline processing and related topics at numerous conferences, and has written an article on arrangement and description, which was published in the Spring/Summer 2009 issue of American Archivist.

Jennifer previously held positions at the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution and in the Special Collections unit of the University Libraries at Virginia Tech.

She received her Master’s in Archival Studies from the University of British Columbia, and her B.A. in English Literature and Film Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
