What are my options for fulfilling the DAS certificate requirements?
Option 1: Take a course and, upon verification of your attendance, you’ll receive the link to the online examination. The test is available for one week. Once you’ve logged in, you have two hours to complete the test. You’ll receive immediate notification of your pass/fail status, as well as which questions you answered incorrectly.
Option 2: If you’ve completed courses in the DAS curriculum between August 2009 and August 2011, you’ll be contacted by the SAA Education Department and given the option to take the examination(s) during a 2-month period (November and December 2011). There is a $35 administrative fee per examination. Once you are registered, you’ll be given access to your specific examination. The test is available for one week. Once logged in, you have two hours to complete the test. You’ll receive immediate notification of your pass/fail status, as well as which questions you answered incorrectly.
Option 3: More knowledgeable students may choose to test out of the four required Foundational Courses. Contact the SAA Education Department (education@archivists.org) with a list of those courses for which you would like to take an examination. You will receive an invoice from SAA. Upon payment, SAA will provide you with a link to the Foundational course examination you requested. There is a $35 administrative fee per exam. The test is available for one week. Once logged in, you have two hours to complete the test. You’ll receive immediate notification of your pass/fail status, as well as which questions you answered incorrectly.
