Sometimes an association’s records are relegated to boxes in a back room—or simply tossed periodically without review. Other times, staff and members continually reinvent the wheel because crucial “institutional memory” is lost. Avoid costly mistakes—and even see a return on investment—by learning how to identify and maintain appropriate records. This workshop offers the practical information and tools necessary to identify records of enduring archival value and start an archives program that will benefit an association.

  • Classroom: 6-foot tables with two chairs each or 8-foot tables with three chairs each—for a maximum of 30 participants
  • Lectern and stool high enough to sit at the lectern

  • Instructor workstation (a PC or laptop that has a USB port, runs standard MS Office software, and has PowerPoint)
  • LCD projector and replacement bulb for the LCD projector
