Description: 

Building upon the basic project management skills learned in the Fundamentals of Project Management for Archivists class, this workshop delves more deeply into skills you will need to manage more complex project or multiple projects at the same time. Some of the topics discussed include working with partners, risk management, change management, and quality management.

 

You will also learn how to develop business case documentation that helps you get buy in from sponsors and stakeholders, kick off your project, and keep it on track. Finally, you will learn how to evaluate the project management process and the project outcomes to develop a project management methodology that works for you and your institution.

Who Should Attend?: 

Those who have taken Fundamentals of Project Management for Archivists or who already have project management experience

What You Should Already Know: 

Basic project management skills

  • Classroom: 6-foot tables with two chairs each or 8-foot tables with three chairs each
  • Lectern
  • Instructor workstation (a PC or laptop that has a USB port, runs standard MS Office software, and has PowerPoint)
  • LCD projector and replacement bulb for the LCD projector

  • Lapel microphone, if possible
  • Flip chart with markers or a whiteboard with erasable markers and an eraser
  • Coffee/tea/water for morning break
