August 2, 2021—A new blog post has been added to Off the Record, the SAA Leaders blog hosted by the SAA President. In "Meet Jacqualine Price Osafo—SAA’s New Executive Director," Archival Outlook Editor Abigail Christian interviews Jacqualine Price Osafo, SAA's new executive director.
The latest issue of Archival Outlook is now available! In the July/August issue, find resources for supporting the retention and advancement of archivists with disabilities; learn how Brigette Kamsler, archivist at George Washington University, contributed to the renaming efforts of two task forces on campus; and get to know Jacqualine Price Osafo, SAA's new executive director.
The video of a panel discussion on "the power of archival accessioning" can be freely downloaded at www.pathlms.com/saa/events/2430/video_presentations/206428. The ninety-minute-long virtual event was sponsored by the Publications Board of the Society of American Archivists and held July 15, 2021.
Senators Elizabeth Warren (MA) and Dan Sullivan (AK) circulated a letter among their Senate colleagues in support of increased funding for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC). This was the first time that such a letter supporting NARA and NHPRC has circulated in the Senate. The advocacy efforts of archivists and kindred professions, led by the organizing efforts of the National Coalition for History and the National Humanities Alliance, resulted in 17 additional Senators signing on to the letter.
