n. ~ 1. The process of reviewing materials in a collection for classified, confidential, or private information that should be restricted. - 2. The act of showing a moving image production.
'Screening' connotes removal of materials at the folder level or higher, while 'weeding' connotes item-level separation. Screening1 is frequently combined with segregation, to move restricted materials to separate storage, and with weeding, to remove and dispose of duplicates and documents without archival value.
