Visual Materials Cataloging and Access Section

Welcome to the Visual Materials Cataloging and Access Section (VMCAS)!

The purpose of VMCAS is to provide a forum at each SAA annual meeting for archivists and others working with visual collections to discuss cataloging and access issues including - but not limited to - description methods, digitization, cataloging tools and standards, and other esoteric topics.

We have included on these pages links for joining this Section and subscribing to the VMCAS list. You may also take a look at our current officersread the minutes of past meetings, and look at a list of links to image cataloging resources.

VMCAS is also an ongoing contributor to the Visual Materials (VM) Section's newsletter Views, where we have a column, "Voices from VMCAS," dedicated to VMCAS member projects and contributions.

We are always looking for great interviewees for this column! Please send us an email if you would like to contribute.

Take a look at the latest issues below:

Spring/Summer 2018: Chelsea Stone, Sacred Heart University

Fall/Winter 2017: Ana Rodriguez, Florida International University (FIU) Green Library

Spring/Summer 2017: Ashley Levine, Artifex Press

November 2016: Debra Schiff, Chester Library

July 2016: Special Anniversary Issue (no "Voices" column)

Please take a moment to locate and verify your membership information. We would like to have accurate information by July for the Society of American Archivists Annual Conference. If you would like changes made, please contact Sharon Mizota, current chair for the Section.
