Congratulations to our new MDOR Intern!

The Metadata and Digital Object Roundtable is excited to announce the appointment of our new MDOR Intern, Julie Seifert, whose term will run from August 2013-July 2014.  Julie is a graduate student in Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, concentrating in Archives and Records management and pursuing the Digital Curation certificate. Among her reasons for applying to the MDOR internship, Julie cited her interest in getting involved in SAA governance and her desire to learn more about “how metadata can be used to aid in object discovery, and how digitization can increase access to collections.”

This is the second straight year that MDOR has hosted an intern.  Our inaugural MDOR intern, Emily Gonzalez, rotates off the committee at the end of the month.  Of her experience, Emily wrote, “Serving as the intern for the MDOR Steering Committee has been a great experience. It has given me the opportunity to see the inner workings of such a large and active roundtable by being able to participate in listserv discussions and working on things like MDOR's involvement at the SAA Annual Meeting and the MDOR website.”  More information about last year’s internship can be found in our annual report.  We have enjoyed having Emily as our intern and look forward to working with Julie.
