2013 Election Information

Voting for the section election will take place online. Election results will be announced at the annual meeting.

Elections are for a vice-chair/chair elect and three steering committee members.

2.  Natalie Baur, Archivist, Cuban Heritage Collection, University of Miami Libraries

Education: M.A., History and certificate in Museum Studies, University of Delaware; M.L.S. with a concentration in Archives, Records, and Information Management, University of Maryland, College Park.

Professional Experience: Online Catalog Project Cataloger for Manuscripts and Photographs, Delaware Historical Society, Wilmington, Delaware, 2010-2012; Archivist, Cuban Heritage Collection, University of Miami Libraries, Coral Gables, Florida, 2012-present.

Professional Service: SAA member since 2011 and member of roundtables such as Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Heritage Archives (2011-present); International Archival Affairs (2012-present), Manuscripts repositories (2011-present); Oral Histories (2013-present). Natalie also served on the Outreach Committee for Mid Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC), 2011-2013 and the Program Committee for MARAC Fall 2012 conference in Richmond, Virginia. She currently serves on the Nominations Committee of the Society of Florida Archivists (SFA).

 

3.  Elizabeth A. Novara, Curator of Historical Manuscripts, University of Maryland Libraries

Education: MLS in Archives, Records, and Information Management, University of Maryland, College Park, 2005; MA in History, University of Maryland, College Park, 2005; BA in History and French, Saint Mary's College of Maryland, 2002.  She is currently set to begin her PhD in History with a certificate in Women’s Studies this fall (2013), also at College Park. 

Professional Experience: Project Archivist, University of Maryland Archives, 2005-2006; Assistant University Archivist, University of Maryland Libraries, 2006-2008; Curator of Historical Manuscripts and leader of the Maryland and Historical Collections Area, Special Collections, University of Maryland, 2008-present. 

SAA Participation: Member of SAA since 2003. Currently (2011-2013) the Co-Chair of the Women’s Collections Roundtable (WCRT). 

 

Other Professional Activities: Maryland Caucus Chair of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC), 2010-2014; MARAC Education Committee, 2007-2012.  She has also served as a grant reviewer for the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC). She has published articles in the American Archivist, Archival Issues, and OCLC Systems and Services as well as book reviews in ALA's CHOICE, the Library Quarterly, and Gender and History.  Liz has presented at MARAC conferences and at the Southern Conference on Women's History on issues pertaining to special collections, including her interest in women's and gender history.
