DORIS (April 2011)
The I&A Roundtable drafted and submitted a letter addressing the administrative policy changes facing the New York City Department of Records and Information Services (DORIS) and encouraging Council to appoint a representative to the Archivists Roundtable of Metropolitan New York, Inc. I&A Steering Committee member Jeremy Brett drafted the lette; full text is available below.
Hungarian Archives (March 2011)
The Issues & Advocacy Roundtable drafted and submitted to SAA a letter addressing the recent policy changes of Hungarian government archives. Working with the Human Rights and International Affairs Roundtable, I&A Steering Committee member Jeremy Brett created a letter of protest that was signed by SAA President Helen Tibbo. SAA's Jameson Award (February 2011)
The I&A Roundtable Steering Committe Chair Dana Miller drafted a nomination for SAA's Jameson Award, including multiple letters of support from around the country. The winner will be announced during the awards ceremony at the 2011 Annual Meeting in Chicago.
NHPRC Action
The Issues & Advocacy Roundtable Steering Committee is asking all Rountable members to contact their Senators in an effort to stop the slashing of the NHPRC budget currently before the Senate Appropriations Committee. Make your voice heard before March 4, 2011! A sample email/fax/letter, prepared by SAA, is available as an attachment below.
Chicago Hotel Labor Dispute (February 2011)
The Issue & Advocacy Roundtable Steering Committee has submitted a letter to SAA Council supporting the position of the Labor Archives Roundtable in the ongoing Chicago hotel labor dispute. The full text of the letter is available as an attachement below.
