SAA Election 2013

Cast Your Vote Between March 15 and April 15, 2013

SAA members who are eligible to vote can cast their votes online between March 15 and April 15, 2013. Click here to cast a ballot. Access to the eBallot system is authenticated via your SAA username and password. If you do not know your login, click here to retrieve it (your information will be sent to the email address you have on file in SAA's member database). This is the fifth year that SAA is partnering with VoteNet Solutions, a leading provider of secure online voting software for nonprofit associations.

Fourteen candidates vying for three different offices are slated for SAA’s 2013 ballot. The candidate elected vice president will serve a one-year term beginning in August 2013 and then will become SAA’s 70th president in 2014–2015. There are three available seats on the Council. Those elected will serve three-year terms beginning in August and running through the 2016 SAA Annual Meeting. The three candidates elected to the 2014 Nominating Committee will serve one-year terms beginning immediately.

The complete slate is listed in the box on the right; click on each candidate's name to read a brief bio along with his or her response to the questions (below) posed by this year's Nominating Committee.

Vice President/President-Elect: How well positioned do you think SAA is to serve the needs of its members in the 21st century? What are its key strengths and weakness? As President, what would you do to address those weaknesses?

Council: SAA is not only growing in numbers, but also in constituencies—students and new professionals, diverse communities, emerging functional needs—all clamoring to be recognized and have specific needs addressed. What challenges are posed for the association and how do we best address them?

Nominating Committee: Nominating Committee members are responsible for identifying candidates for leadership who represent a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, as well as a passion for and commitment to advancing the profession. What would be your strategy for identifying qualified candidates?

These questions were developed by SAA’s 2013 Nominating Committee: Chair Erika Castaño (University of Arizona), John LeGloahec (National Archives at College Park), Sammie Morris (Purdue University Libraries), and Council members Dennis Meissner (Minnesota Historical Society), and Kate Theimer (ArchivesNext).
