filmstrip

n.A short length of film containing images intended to be viewed individually.

Notes

Filmstrips are often on 35 mm film. They are roughly equivalent to a slide show, with the images kept on a continuous roll of film rather than mounted individually. The images may be photographs, drawings, or text. Some filmstrips have accompanying audio distributed on phonograph records or cassettes; the sound is synchronized with the filmstrip by the use of an audible tone to indicate the film is to be manually advanced, or in later systems by an inaudible tone that the projector senses to automatically advance the filmstrip.
